Sophie Loly

Sophie Loly was born in 1964 in the urban area of Rouen (Normandy, France). In her milieu, absolutely nothing predestined her to become an artist.

It was at the age of 40 that she started painting, alone, self-taught, headlong. 

Between 2007 and 2009 she chained the collective exhibitions in Seine-Maritime (Normandy, France):  
In Déville-les-Rouen, Yainville, Franqueville-Saint-Pierre, Mesnil-Esnard, Yvetôt, Bihorel, Barentin, Maromme, Duclair, at the Norman independent artists fair, at the Saint-Cyr gallery in Rouen, at Bonsecours (artists mobilize against cystic fibrosis). 

In May 2008, she exhibited at the large contemporary art market (GMAC), place de la Bastille in Paris. A few personal exhibitions will follow, in Rouen (restaurant "la Cornaelle", "Pomme d'épices", "equatorial spirit"), until 2015.

It was in December 2021 that Sophie Loly resumed painting. She joined the UAS (Union Artistique Sottevillaise) and embarked on the production of the series "Restart", "Different", finally "Refuge" and then "Cool" that you will find in the galleries of the same name.

In 2023 Sophie Loly begins to make clay sculptures and in 2024  drawings and photographs.
